8. Adaptive Process, and the DVFP Framework
Every engineering organisation has a process, and most adopted theirs the way people adopt a superstition: someone successful did it, so we do it too. We run the ceremonies, hold the workshops, fill the boards — and mistake the ritual for the result. In a changequake that is expensive, because the processes we cargo-cult were each designed for a narrower world than the one we now work in. This chapter is about seeing them clearly, layering them deliberately, and — the part almost everyone skips — making the ability to change your process a capability in its own right.
